A neo-classical villa set within a landscaped garden, where colonnaded verandahs, warm lighting, and a reflective pool create a composed and elegant residential setting.

Villa Esperanza

A single-storey post-retirement home on Divar Island, Goa, designed to integrate with the local Indo-Portuguese village fabric and everyday rhythms of the place

A Seamless Ode to Divar’s Heritage

Villa Esperanza was designed with a clear intention to fit within its surroundings rather than stand apart from them. Located on Divar Island near Panjim, the house adopts a low-rise, single-storey form that aligns with the scale and character of the existing village. The planning and massing respond to the local streetscape, ensuring that the home feels familiar and approachable rather than introduced.

The architecture draws from Indo-Portuguese building traditions through proportion, material choice, and detailing, without direct replication. Construction was carried out in close coordination with local craftsmen and contractors, allowing regional building practices to guide execution. Materials such as sandstone and granite were selected for their durability and local relevance, helping the house age naturally within its context.
