An apartment renovation in Delhi commissioned for a retired couple, focused on creating a calm, functional home that maintains a daily connection with light, greenery, and outdoor views.
An Urban Apartment Planned Around Light and Use
The renovation was guided by the clients’ desire to slow down and live comfortably without losing their connection to nature in an apartment setting. The layout was reorganized to improve natural light, visual openness, and ease of movement, allowing the home to feel relaxed and intuitive rather than tightly programmed. Windows were treated as spatial elements with deep reveals that frame the surrounding tree canopy and bring the outdoors into everyday living spaces.
Functional clarity was central to the design. A semi-open kitchen connection improves circulation, while custom joinery integrates storage, seating, and display without clutter. Recesses within the structure were converted into usable study corners and window seating, ensuring that every part of the apartment serves a clear purpose. The project balances functionality, comfort, and a quiet relationship with nature, demonstrating how thoughtful renovation can support slower, more intentional living in an urban context.
