STONED AGE CAFE & INN
Tosh, Himachal Pradesh.
On the face of the valley, across the stream from Tosh Village and looking onto it, the site sits, just off the trekking route adjacent to an apple orchard. 3 kilometres from the nearest motorable road.
Conceptualised as an aberration in contrast to the existing architectural treatment of the typology in the area while attempting to fuse into the landscape of the valley.
The cottages use stone, reclaimed from the site itself, up till plinth level, where the pitched roof rests. Going up at an incline of 60˚, it meets sharply at the top, creating a frame that mimics the elevation of the mountains. A skylight in each cottage lets in light and allows a view of the clear mountain sky.
