Making sustainability accessible through design.

MUSEE ART CAFE

Dehradun, Uttrakhand,

An attempt at making art more accessible for the average person, a place to facilitate the exchange of ideas among creators, and in the future, a residency for artists. It is also an attempt at reducing the overall embodied energy of said typology, which is generally averse to re-using/re-cycling. this is done by employing more sustainable materials for finishes and furniture, throughout the space. Within the complex, dedicated spaces have been designed for exhibiting artwork and for the performing arts, along with spaces for dining, lounging, and co-working functions.

The outdoor holds a semi-covered exhibition and lounging space that spills onto the adjoining lawn. Outdoor seating consists of composite bench units created from reclaimed wood and chairs built on-site with steel re-bars. Waste wood found on site was used to create lighting fixtures.
